.thank you.

Today I braved the elements, 40 degree weather, and a horrendous downpour, to honor those who have given so much for our country. The war memorial in Central Point was dedicated today, I wasn't sure how the turnout would be on such a blistery day, but Southern Oregon bleeds Red, White and Blue, and the people came out in droves! I came with four kids, three umbrellas, and one double stroller to give thanks to our veterans. I get teary eyed right now just thinking about the sacrifice they have made so that we can have our freedoms. The memorial is not yet completed, but it truly is a work of art. I am proud to live in a community that treats our veterans with such honor and respect. My boys call them 'supers' and were so excited to see the gun salute, that was their favorite part. And a little stroke of luck had us parked right beside their van, so we got the up close and personal VIP treatment. There was supposed to be a fly over, but the weather got in the way, my boys didn't seem to mind, they thought the airplane landing nearby at the airport was just as cool!!

I don't come from a military family, so I can't speak of the sacrifice that families make so their loved ones can serve, but I am forever grateful for their duty and service. Today we honor you, those who have served and those who are still serving. May God bless you and your family, and may He also bless this great country. I know two men personally that have served our country with honor, so Frankers and Papa Fretz, from the bottom of our hearts, we honor you!!! Thanks for your service to us and for making our families proud!

(I wish I would have taken some pictures, but taking the camera would have sent me over the edge, it was all I could do to get the crew there!! Maybe I will have to 'steal' some photos from the paper tomorrow when they print the story, so check back)

I'm so glad you went, what a good girl you are. I talked to my kids about it, while we took turns with the mop. That was the extent of my honoring veterans, but I talked with all my heart. . .

Shoot, we talked about going but forgot. I guess we are all talk. I love your patriotism and political zeal.

Wow, look at you super mom, showing your kids such a great thing and teaching them the important stuff. I was just excited to have my hubbie off for the day (his first holiday since July because of not being able to take time off until January) and totally spaced honoring those for whom the day off is for. Good for you!!
